   Is there any way to have the widget ONLY display event start times and not display the end times at all?

   Yup.

   Two approaches.

   Slightly Complex (Free) Approach: you can create a custom template for the widget. Basically make an folder called /events/ in your theme, copy event-list-load-widget-display.php into it and make the edits you want. You will need to know some WordPress theme dev but it should't be too hard.

   Easy (upgrade needed) Approach - PRO has an advanced upcoming events widget which allows you to choose exactly which meta you want from the widget admin: http://cl.ly/B8qB
