Using the info here, and TEC version #2.0.3, I tried integrating Post Categories & tags to the "The Events Calendar" Events. Neither approach worked

The categories are visible and can be selected, so a Event can be flagged into the same category as a Post. The post count under that category increments. But when all members of that category are displayed via the sidebar link only the Posts are displayed
Confusing: the Sidebar link shows there are 17 items in a category. Follow the link and only one is displayed - the Post. The Events are not shown
