    i recently upgraded wordpress to the newest version (3.1.1) as well as subscribe2 to 8.2, and also added additional html code (<table> and <img src.... specifically) to the body of the email to be generated and it worked fine when i sent a test email by clicking "send email preview". it was set up to send as html-full, but when i selected 'html-except', it reverted to text, no longer added the table or img and also would not add the text that is in the 'subject line'. i've switched it back to 'html-full', but it still won't add the table or img code or even the text in the subject line. how do i get it to send the mail in html format again, but only with the post excerpts??

    @mmcari,

    Subscribe2 was not 'set' to send html-full emails by you. Those were your personal email preferences and the emails you saw were the four different types of preview emails.

    By default all Public Subscriber get plain text excerpts, there is no setting you can change to over ride this.

    actually, before i selected 'html-excerpt' it was sending full html emails. it sent 3 in total: html full preview, plain text excerpt preview, and html excerpt preview. both html emails were sent with the html code that i had enter (iow the image in the table with specified font colors as well). now it only sends 1 email when i click on send preview email and it comes as 'digest preview' no matter what i have selected for 'Auto-subscribe users to receive email as'. btw, if public subscribers only receive plain text excepts as you said, why is there an option for html emails under 'Auto-subscribe users to receive email as'?

    also, the wordpress version i'm using is 3.3.1, not 3.1.1 if that helps

    also, it now does not use what i have entered in 'subject line' which should be 'Your Legal Corner Blog Alert'. the subject of the email comes thru as the generic '[BLOGNAME] Weekly Digest Email'. this also worked before i changed the 'Auto-subscribe users to receive email as' to html-excerpt.

    @mmcari,

    It sends one email now as you are using the plugin in digest mode.

    Auto-subscribe applies to User accounts when people Register with your blog and are assigned a username and password, not to Public subscribers who just provide their email address in the Subscribe2 form.

    The subject line for digest emails has always been fixed, but you can over ride it with a little plugin on the 's2_email_subject' filter. Something like this perhaps:

    function my_subject($subject) {
        return "My Custom Subject Heading";
    }

    so....... how do i get it out of digest mode? not sure how it even changed over to digest mode in the first place.

    @mmcari,

    In the Subscribe2->Settings menu towards the top, return the option to send notification per-post and make sure to scroll to the bottom of the window and click submit.

    the goal here is to send subscribers an excerpt of current posts in html format. the goal, really is to send all emails in the same html format, but from what i'm understanding, subscribe2 is limited in that area, yes?

    thanks for your help in this

    that did fix the format, thanks. but i want the email to be sent weekly, with all the new posts from that week. again, in html-excerpt format.

    @mmcari,

    Your goal cannot be achieved with the free version of Subscribe2, if you want to send a weekly post with the free version it will be plain text only.

    If you buy the HTML version you can have some HTML formatting in the email but control over the format is limited due to the way the email is constructed. You may be better with a more commercial mailing list solution.
