Support » Plugin: Special Recent Posts » [Plugin: Special Recent Posts] Plugin stopped working and corrupted my root folder permissions

  • I updated this plugin and then the thumbnails stopped displaying (as predicted in the change log). Also, the widget looked horrible and broken after activating. Regardless, my first step was to delete the whole plugin from my site but it wouldn’t uninstall. So I attempted to log in through FTP and kill this thing but the folder permissions for the root folder of my site were corrupt. The hosting file browser showed the correct permissions but I could not get in through FTP. I had to reset all folder and file permissions throughout my site afterward to correct this issue and to kill the damn plugin. I guess that’s what happens when you decide to start charging, and therefore ruin a good product.

The plugin cannot absolutely change persmissions of any kind. It’s quite impossible. If you have troubles connecting via your ftp account, it does not depend on any plugin. I think you have some more deep issues in your wordpress installation.
