• Hello,
I upgraded the free version to 1.9.6 yesterday and am having several problems.
    1. removed all of the widgets (I added them again)
    2. all styling removed (ok, I’ll add that again but would prefer to not have to do this for every upgrade)
    3. my excerpts are not showing up even though within my widget I’ve defined them to display
    4. my date customizations are being ignored. I set F Y (without the day).
Basically, it’s ignoring all of my “post options”.
    Ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Agree. Lost styling, widget removed itself etc etc.
Great plugin for free, but must be tested before release!

I also lost all styling and the widgets disappeared and am now having to redo it. Why in the world would you change the names of the CSS classes and widgets when creating a newer version of the plugin?

I have also lost the ability to filter by category, and am trying to restyle it, but now notice that some of the items in the plugin css are marked as !important which will override my custom ones. Annoying.

To the developer: any plans to release a newer version and fix the bugs, which there seem to be lot of?

I have the pro version of this but haven’t put it on this site yet, really wishing I did right now.

@webdi In order to display your post excerpts, you have to explicitly set the relative option called “Select post content type” in the “Post Option” panel. The date formatting works fine. What do you mean for “being ignored”. Still the original formatting comes out? Can you provide more info please? Thanks.

@nicole Can you please list the real bugs of this plugin? How do you filter by category? Are you using a shortcode or a PHP code? Are you using categories IDs?

    Thanks for responding.

I did select to display the title and excerpts and they were showing up before I upgraded. Then after the upgrade I check that I had specified to display excerpts and they weren’t showing up.

As far as the date goes… instead of F jS, Y I had changed it to F Y. This worked before the upgrade. After the upgrade I reset this to F Y but the day was still showing up. It’s as if the plugin wasn’t checking what I had manually specified.

    Thanks

@webdi I think you should try to uninstall the plugin com, letely via the uninstall link on the plugins page, then re-install everything. Are you using a widget or a Shortcode?

Thanks for your response. I am using the widget and using the “include categories” section under the Filtering options. I have the left one filtering the “news” and the right one filtering “case studies”. I’ve tried using the title and the slug and it just seems to disregard them completely. http://sagewoodgroup.com Any help or ideas why this is happening would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve already renamed the css classes, it was just frustrating that I had to rename them, I guess that’s not a bug, but just doesn’t seem like the best idea. Also, I had to go into the plugin css to remove borders since they were marked as “!Important”, so my css file wouldn’t overwrite them.

Also, when I first upgraded, the actual widgets disappeared from the page/sidebars and I had to re-add them, good thing I checked them so I could get them back up asap. Not sure why widgets would disappear on an upgrade.

    Thanks again.

Filtering works with Categories IDs (numeric values) and not with slugs or titles.
As specified in the instructions, you need to take note of the category IDs by placing your cursor over a category name, and check its ID number down on the status bar. Then insert, separated by a comma, all the IDs you wish to filter by.

The widgets disappear from 1.9.4 to 1.9.5 due to a technical change i had to make in order to improve the performance and stability of the plugin. I know it sounds strange, but this plugin suffered from many bugs before this update. Go and check the older posts on this forum and you’ll get an idea 🙂

Anyway, please report your issues about categories.

    That works, thank you!

    @nicole you’re welcome.

Hi, I upgraded and lost everything from my special recent posts. I am a total newbie and don’t know how to fix this. I am so disappointed because it looked really nice. I had it on some pages and not on others. I read the comments above but it is all a bit geek to me. Please would you be so kind as to instruct me 1. 2. 3. how to get it all back? My pages are bare! Thank you.

ps: I was able to get it back by installing and activating it again, then dragging it to the sidebar. I got as far as sizing the thumbnail and including the title, but I would like to include the first sentence or two so others know what the post is about. I just have […]. What do I have to change to be able to include the first sentence or two? Thanks so much!

@majavo Ok, first of all, you need to set the plugin to display your post content. This is done by default, but just to be sure, go to the “Post Options” tab and set the “Select post content type” to Post content. this should display a part of your posts content. The trimming of such text id handled by the “Cut post content after:” option available just below.

    Hi,
Where does the plugin get its date formatting from? I changed the default ‘F jS, Y’ values in srp-defaults.php to custom ones, however, the widget still displays the old format. Why are custom formatting values ignored? I am using version 1.9.9 with the newest version of WP. Thank you.
