[Plugin: SpamTask] Am I getting this right? (13 posts)

So I pay for the filter, install it to my website...and then what? It just captures all automated spambots?

    I mean, ALL automated spambots?

The lot I've been getting has been non-human spam so if that's the case I guess it's mine - I'll have to read some reviews of it, though I'm pretty sure this is what I'm looking for.

I installed SpamTask yesterday and it seems to work nicely. my blog isn't the biggest, so I typically only get around 20-30 spam messages a day. I have just purchased 750 messages (task points they call it), since i didn't have to yesterday because of the 10 test points they give each blog every month.

So well, this has actually worked for me since. I doubt though it works for blogs where you need to login, because spambots don't come by those (or am I wrong?).

Thanks Vladoo, I tried out SpamTask myself - I know that there weren't many testpoints but I made some thorough testing after I bought Spamtask, and until now there has been no sign of spam! :)

I heard that some bots can pass pages that use Captcha and login fields and stuff?

why do you want to pay for a plugin, when there are free filters out there? sure it's possibly better in some ways, but i won't install it as long as it costs money. the few spam messages akismet lets through : I can live with that as long as it's free.

I had installation problems and after not getting any reply from ConTask support for around 30 hours, I uninstalled the plug-in.

The problem involved my API key and I got messages ranging from, "you already have one", to "please install one".

weird. I asked them a support question which got answered in an hour or so, also about the API key. did you use the support tickets in ConTask or some mail?

by the way: I've got SpamTask installed for around a week now, and it really kicks off. no spam at all. don't even have to moderate my comments anymore, as I actually did with Akismet. highly recommended!

I agree with you and I wonder how they got away releasing a paid plugin here, isn't this repository for GPL or open source plugins only?

well... that's probably the reason it isn't paid anymore. :P

how can I show those statistics on my blog with "41 seconds ago" and if the comment was spam or not? (as in the screenshots here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/spamtask/screenshots/)

Ehm... as the screenshots indicate? :) [Last comment] and [Last comment status] though it isn't mentioned in the admin panel.

    also about the API key

it seems an API-key isn't necessary in the new version.
