[Plugin: Slide In Popup] It works in 3.0.3 for me. Problem is likely your theme

We marked it working in 3.0.1 as version coding does not seem to be up to date in these comment forms.

This plugin works fine with 3.0.3, for which only a few files, none to do with plugins, have changed from 3.0.1.

We installed it today after our recent (painful) upgrade to 3.0.3 and it showed just fine, using the Striking Theme (very popular theme from Themeforest).

If this plugin does not work for you, almost certainly the problem has to do with java permissions in your site. We suggest you go the the plugin developers forum and post to him for help.

Some tricks for the plugin, as the developers instructions are a little fuzzy! You have 2 areas where you work with this plugin

1. IN your Settings Menu, you will see an item “Global Slide In”
2. On your Widgets page, you will see under the Available Widgets column a new widget “SlideIn Box” and in the right hand column likely at the head of the column you will see a new drop in widget box called “SlideIn Boxes” (note the “es” on the end of Boxes”).

To use this SlideIn Widget you start your work on the Widget Page first, and then later you go to the control panel Global Slide In under Settings AFTER to set some positioning parameters for it to appear on your page.

For setting the content, this widget behaves almost identical to how a text widget works, for any of you that use text widgets with your WP theme:

Step 1:
On the Widget page in your admin panel, drag the widget SlideIn Box into the right hand widget container SlideIn Boxes. Mistakenly, we tried dropping other widgets into this container – but that does not work. It will only accept the SlideIn Box widget and nothing else

will show up

. This fooled us at first as we found it would allow one to drop any widget into this container. But they do not work. So this plugin does not allow one to take any of their other custom widgets and use them with this plugin (although there is a solution to get around this, see below).

Step 2 (very important):
You now see (once you open the drop down for the container if it did not pop open automatically) a section for a Title, and then a box below for content. VERY IMPORTANT – GIVE IT A TITLE. If you do not give it a title, you will not be able to see the widget when you go to the Settings later to set some master parameters.

Step 3:
Put HTML and PHP content into the main container of the widget. Now we noted earlier one was not able to drop widgets into the SlideIn Boxes widget container, but in some cases, the code for the widget you wish to use, can be dropped into this container directly, and it will work. If you work with a prebuilt theme, and the author has supplied widgets that can be placed both in sidebars, and has shortcodes so they can be placed in page content, then you can place them via the code and/or shortcode into this container.

Step 4:
Save the container coding.

Click on the Global Slide In link under your left hand Settings Menu in your dashboard. You land on a page titled “Global setup for SlideIn Box”. The first option is “Global SlideIn Box” with a dropdown selection. If you did not give your widget a title as noted above, then the only thing that will show is “Select the SlideIn Box” and below that when you hit the dropdown, you will see nothing. But if you gave it a title, then you will see your title to select.

Step 6:
After selecting your title, then go ahead and set your other conditions which are all pretty self explanatory, such as distance you want the slide in to appear from right and left edges of the screen, etc.

Step 7:
Save the Global settings, and go check your webpage.

You have to know how to do html or php in order to make good use of this plugin unless you have formatted code given to you to put into the widget container. When the slide up “pops up” it hides the content underneath unless you use coding to add some translucense to it.
