Not a know issue, that I’m aware off… Not something I see happening anyway.
Maybe it’s a browser cache issue? Try to reload the page by holding down Shift and clicking the Reload button at the same time in Chrome.

Yeah, i thought that might be it…but i tried shift + refresh, i emptied my cache, i even went into the wordpress admin — because i use w3 total cache plugin — and emptied that cache, but nothing helped. And again, i had even tried to html code for a skype button instead of the plugin, with the same results in chrome, on multiple computers. Very strange.
No idea how to explain that…
What happens if you access the image directly via http://mystatus.skype.com/YOUR_SKYPE_ID (fill in your Skype ID) in Chrome? The plugin uses exaclty that image and it should change upon your Skype Status change… If that image does not comply with your actual status, check http://mystatus.skype.com/YOUR_SKYPE_ID.txt or http://mystatus.skype.com/YOUR_SKYPE_ID.num (notice the extensions) to see what that says.
Seems weird that only Chrome has this issue. Is it using a proxy server while other browsers are not, maybe?
My issue is solved by adjusting “Allow my status to be shown on the web” in the Skype client settings under Options > Privacy
Thanks!
