Simply Exclude
Version 2.0.x doesn't work with static front pages (e.g. showcase) (12 posts)

With the new 2.0.x version it seems that I’m no longer able to exclude any categories from the start page when I use a static page, like the showcase template of the Twenty Eleven theme. This worked before with 1.7.x, seems I have to downgrade until this feature is available again.

whale74 Can you provide details of how you have this setup? I'm trying to create a development environment. I'm not familiar with the showcase template.

Never mind I see how this works. Hmm. not sure I can fix. One thing I fixed in the new version where where the filtering occurred. In previous versions this filters ALL queries instead of just the main query. Let me do some digging. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

This beta version now works also with the Showcase template. At first my complete page header including navigation bar was gone but I fixed this by reloading previous configuration in the settings.

    Thanks

But I found a second issue, with the plugin activated all searches have no results, independent from which category I include or exclude in the plugin settings.

Thanks for the update. Well one issue down. On to the next.

As for the search can you identify for me what items you have setup for search exclude/include. This would include all Post Types and Taxonomies. I need to setup my development site the same to research.

    Thanks.

This plugin no longer works with my custom home page. Any way to download or backtrack to the older version?

Sure. From the plugin main page you should see a link 'Other versions' which will let you download older versions of the plugin.

Curious what is special about your custom home page?

    It's just a fully-widgetized home page.

Are there any security issues with the older plugin?

I have the same problem with my theme Constructor. I cannot link to my frontpage with a static page. All other cathegories and links works, part from the frontpage. http://annenilssonkonst.se.
In Widget I´ve made my own textmenue for the sidebar.
