[Plugin: SimpleReach Slide] Recommending the same post that user is currently reading

    Awesome plug-in. Just installed it.

    One thing that bugs me a bit at first glance when I tested on my latest article (http://recessionitis.com/deal-guide-how-to-pay-50-month-on-att/), as I scrolled down, the slide recommended the same article I was reading.

    I refreshed a couple of times and eventually it would switch, but just something to think about.

    edit: Also, I run a Q&A website, where questions asked by users and articles are “posts”. I would like to avoid questions from being recommended, and thus far (1st hour) haven’t seen any question posts recommended which is good! Great job on the algorithm. But just in case, in the future, perhaps a filter by tag option?

    I’m getting the exact same problem as the member above.

    I refreshed a couple times and nothing changed. How can I get it to work properly?

    To address each of those questions one at a time:

    The Slide should not recommend the article that you are reading. What can happen is that the URL of an article is changed and since the uniqueness of the article is keyed off of the URL, it appears as though the same article is being recommended for the page you are on. Additionally, the same potential is there if there is only 1 article available to be recommended in the pool of available articles. New articles take a few minutes after the users go to the pages to show up in the available pool.

    The filter by tag option is sort of there already. If you take advantage of the channel feature, you’ll be able to do something akin to what you are looking for. The channels feature in the WordPress plugin is only built out for filtering by categories. But diving in with a bit of custom code can take care of it.
