Hey there,
Yes I know this one has been reported http://redmine.beapi.fr/issues/201
But perhaps somebody didn't saw the old threat.
I've tested it in 2 of my sites. After upgrading to the WordPres 3.1 the category archives stopped working.
Waiting for the bugfix,
Thanks.
Same here. Stopped working and I had to disable it temporarily until there is a new update for simple tags.

Category archives on my site were getting redirected to home page. After reading http://wordpress.org/support/topic/categories-not-working-after-31-upgrade, I have disable Simple tags plugin and now everything is fine.
This is a useful plugin, I wish it gets fixed soon.

Looks like a problem with 3.1. Same thing is happening for me and I don't use Simple Tags.

Thanks Saleem_chohan. it works now!
I have also the same problem.
Deactivatign the plugin many of the queries work, but not all.
It seems that the problem is also on the tags for pages option.
But I have queries that display the excerpt of some pages according to their tag...
Please, upgrade the plugin!

The problem doesn't seem to be my plugins. Deactivating all my plugins still leaves my category pages unreachable.
With my plugins on, I at least get the home page when I try to go to category pages. If I deactivate all my plugins, the category pages simply don't load.

I can confirm same problem here with 3.1
Simple Tags plugin breaks categories browsing (always returns to index).
Deactivating Simple Tags plugin restores category navigation.

Confirm same as Martin Perrault, with an addition. If you're using Simple Tags combined with Efficient Related Posts, deactivate both. (You can probably then reinstall ERP, but I haven't tried yet).

Try v2.0-beta1 :)
I love you, man! ;)
Is there a timeline on this v2? Do you plan on replacing the removed features?
Thanks again!
my everything was working until I updated plugin today (2.0-beta1) :(((
now my tag links lead only to 404 page.

Ive tried the new beta - and just like everyone else, it redirects all my category pages to the home page (have no idea why it would do that). HOWEVER, deactivating it, and/or removing the plugin, and/or reverting to the last version which worked - DOESNT fix the issue. This is a big one for me as my category pages rank high. Until there is a fix, can someone tell me what we can do manually to fix this (ie- delete a database entry, change a file, etc...)???
With the Simple Tags plugin acitvated, try to untick Active tags for page
See if that can help.

Actually looks like it has been fixed with the newest update. which is great - Thank you Kteis.
HOWEVER - why did you guys remove the ability to include categories in the tag cloud. I loved that :) Can that still be done?
@Amuary This problem seemed to have corrected itself after you released the first fix, but today with v2.0-beta5, it's broken again. Any ideas?
@Sabai
Thank you - that worked for me.
