running 2.8.4 version of WP
If your one of the many people who create posts for your blog automatically from feeds by using the popular wpomatic plugin, the automatic tags arent being created/added when the posts are published.
to get simpletags to add auto tags to these posts you then have to go to back to each post and manually press 'update' to get list of autotags added.
Have had this bug ever since installation 6 months ago.

yes, I have the same issue. simple tags doest auto tag posts made with wpomatic for some reason.

My initial exam shows that things should be doing what they're supposed to. WP-O-Matic uses WordPress's wp_insert_post which runs the appropriate hooks the Simple Tags uses. The only thing I can think is that if you're using a cron job to pull posts, WordPress hooks aren't run.
In laymen's speak, Simple Tags doesn't know it needs to add auto tags if WP-O-Matic is run via a cron job.
If it's not run via a cron job, let me know, and I'll look into it some more.

I'm just using the default inbuilt method of grabbing and posting the feeds. I've not set any cron jobs on my server to access the special cron URL.
I've always had to manually edit and click the update button to get simple tags to auto tag the fetched posts. I was hoping the issue might right itself when the duplication bug was fixed.
Running latest wp and simple tag versions.
