Calculators not working (6 posts)

I just recently installed the latest version of your "Simple Real Estate Pack" and the widget calculators aren't working. I'm running the latest version of Word Press as well.

When I enter numbers into the calculator fields, nothing happens. I tried checking the tabs boxes as you suggested in a previous post, but this didn't work. I have also activated/deactivated all of my plugins and that didn't solve the problem either.

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

You have a JavaScript error from a third party script, which makes other scripts to fail. Whoever is working on your site needs to debug it. Here is the error message:

Uncaught TypeError: Object [object Object] has no method 'superfish'

I know there's an error and I know the component that is causing it. Even when I disable the piece that causes the error, the calculators still won't operate. I can disable everything on the page and the calculators still don't function.

@lfarah - whatever the problem is, we can't nail it without starting troubleshooting by eliminating the existing JavaScript errors. The current error might be blocking further JS execution down the list, which would prevent any other errors form showing up.

Start by deactivation the plugins/scripts that throw errors in JS console. Do you have Google Chrome? It has JavaScript console - press Ctrl+Shif+J. A similar tool exists in Firebug for Firefox. You can see which errors show up and then act accordingly.

I just took a glance at your source code. You're loading jQuery twice on the same page - the firs time it's the native one that's included into the WordPress core (version 1.7) and the second one next to NivoSlider code (version 1.5). That's asking for trouble right there.

Make sure you remove the jQuery version 1.5. It might be bundled with NivoSlider. If so, deactivate the slider - make sure the codes doesn't load on the page.

If you don't see calculator throwing errors, don't assume it's broken - start taking care of the errors that are obvious.

    Hope this helps.
