@houseofstrauss – Thanks for the kind words! This is my first WordPress plugin, and I’m excited that you are finding it to be useful! Let me know if you have any suggestions for improvement. Also, please give it a vote on the “star scale” on the right side of the plugin page when you get a chance. 🙂 Thanks!

Hi llamaman, Pure and simple is nice as it makes sure there are not too many queries or php processing. However, I have seen a very nice ‘ extra’ on one site (can’t find it now). The pull quote has a headline and an image, plus a read more link. When you click the read more link it opens up (presumably ajax or css layer) to show a larger portion of the excerpt.

Another thought… If I was using a related posts plugin and it had a template; example <?php show_related_posts> Could I put this template tag in the custom field instead of a text quote?

Sort of a global side content box?

    Thanks…

Gave this plug in 5 stars. Excellent.

Great — something I wanted for awhile, also…

Does anyone know if this will work with 2.6.5?

@houseofstrauss – Great ideas for improvement:

    • headline
    • image
    • read more link
    • When you click the read more link it opens up (presumably ajax or css layer) to show a larger portion of the excerpt

I have been mulling over the best ways to expand the plugin’s functionality in terms of ease of use for the end user. Once I figure out the best way to move forward on that front, these features just might find their way into the plugin – Thanks!

Regarding including <?php show_related_posts> or another php function in the custom field, it could work with some philmandering. Try using the “eval” method as described here. Please let me know if you get this to work!

@mr Jolly – Thanks for the kind words and stars!

@strangeattractor – I haven’t tested it for versions below 2.7, but it very well might work without a hitch! Please let me know how it goes!

@llamaman I’ll have a play with this and see what I can work out … thanks.
