• hi Otto,

you mentioned somewhere else that the likes on the posts on the Fan Page and the likes on the posts on the website are not the same thing.

    But Facebook claims:

What makes up the number shown on my Like button?

The number shown is the sum of:
The number of likes of this URL
The number of shares of this URL (this includes copy/pasting a link back to Facebook)
The number of likes and comments on stories on Facebook about this URL
The number of inbox messages containing this URL as an attachment.

And I am pretty sure it used to work like this until somewhere around mid-December 2011, at least this was my experience. From then it stopped, and the like count on my site is very often lower than the count on the Fan Page wall (which was never the case before).

I didn’t change anything in my configuration then; and since then I can see some sporadic questions around the web about the issue, but no answer.

Do you know about any changes to the Facebook algorithm?

    BTW, great plugin.

As far as I know, that has never been the way the Like button worked, nor have I ever seen that result from using it.
