Facebook Images - show pictures from fanpage not profile (5 posts)

    Hi, I've just downloaded and installed Simple Facebook Connect. So far, the setup has been easy and intuitive. However, I encountered a few problems.

    Facebook Images shows my personal pictures from my personal PROFILE. I do not want that and I certainly do not want my other authors to see these pictures when they click the "Facebook Images" tab.

    Instead, I want it to show the pictures from my Facebook FANPAGE. How can that be achieved? (And yes, I did enter the correct ID of my Fanpage during setup)

    They won't see your pictures; they'll see their pictures. That's sort of the point. The idea is to allow you to easily insert your FB images into your blog posts. It wouldn't do anybody else any good if they saw your images, since they will probably want to insert their images.

    It can't, at present. The images feature is hooked to your account, not to the fan page in general.

    Ah ok, I see. I guess I misunderstood the feature then.

    It would be very nice though to have the ability to integrate the pictures from various facebook-pages into WordPress, maybe like the Fotobook plugin, but with added pages-functionality.

    Are you planing anything like this? (It shouldn't be too hard for publicly accessible pics from fanpages?)

    I've had requests for it, but the idea is a weird one and I don't know how to do the UI. Also, there's some strangeness there with permissions since you'd have to give all authors the right permissions to access the images in the fan page.

    Not insurmountable, but I haven't tackled it yet.

    Think about a website about a celebrity. For the image-gallery this site would need:

    Images from the celebrity's FB:
    * * * *
    * * * *
    * * * *

    Images from the actual websites' own FB:
    * * * *
    * * * *
    * * * *

    This is perfectly legitimate as both fanpages are publicly accessible. And I am looking for a solution that can do this. So any tips are welcome!

    Images on fanpages are public, so every author should have the same permission to access all pics from the fanpage.

    The user should be able to add the IDs of fanpages on the settings-page, and all you need to do is go there, fetch, parse, display. Pretty much like you do it for the personal pics, I guess. Or am I missing something?

    People have hacked the Fotobook plugin to include pages functionality. I haven't tested it recently, so I don't know if FB made any changes, but it did work in the past. The only trouble is that the developer apparently doesn't update this plugin anymore so at some point it might just stop working.
