Simple Facebook Connect
[resolved] Disable OpenGraph? (4 posts)

    Hi,

is it possible to disable the generation of the og: meta tags? Because WordPress SEO does this already, and SFC inserts og: meta tags and link tags for every image I use in a blog post. So, if I insert a gallery with 30+ images I got 30+ og meta tags and 30+ link tags. I guess this is also the problem why my link gets posted to my profile without any image beside it?

    TIA,

    Greetings from Germany,
    Markus

No, there is no option in SFC to do that. I recommend that you disable the SEO plugin from doing that instead.

I think it's not completly resolved, as the question with the multiple open graph image meta tags is still open. AFAI understand there should be only one og:image tag for the featured image of the post, but I could be wrong since I didn't spent much time on it till now.

And the "disable og in SEO": Maybe, if you could add the og:admins tag, which seems to be needed for FB insights.

The multiple image tags is intentional and working the way it is supposed to work. Providing multiple image tags doesn't make any difference to Facebook, but Facebook isn't the only user of OpenGraph metadata. Some other systems allow a choice in images to use with a post. It isn't "only one". Facebook will use the first listed, and SFC pushes the "Featured" image to the top of the list, if you have an image marked as featured.

The og:admins meta is not necessary for Facebook Insights. SFC adds the fb:app_id, which allows Insights to work as well. The admins of the FB Application will be allowed access to the Insights for the page.
