I have installed the most recent version of Sideposts and have it working here:
But, there is a link in that post (e-mail) and it doesn't show up when I choose to show the Post Excerpt. If I show the whole post, it does. Is this a bug?
Thanks!

This is the expected behavior. WordPress excerpts are text plain. They don't show links, images or any other HTML element, just plain text.
That's by WordPress design. When you use excerpts anywhere in WordPress, you get only plain clean text. Same when using excerpts with SidePosts.
Wow, very interesting! In all the things I've done with WordPress, I've never noticed this...good to know.
Thank you for your fast response and for a great plugin!
I came here with the same question. However I'm using normal the_excerpt, not the Sideposts plugin. Is there a simple way to override the standard WP behavior so that links will work in an excerpt? I'm sure WP has their reasons for doing it like this, but it seems that having text in an excerpt that says 'Click here' that isn't actually clickable would confuse the user.
Have to write your own plugin to create the excerpts on a different way ;)
Or just write the excerpt without links on the excerpt box when posting.
