• I use latest version of WordPress 3.2.1 and the Sidebar Login Plugin 2.3.3. The Sidebar Login plugin is working fine when using HTTP, but as soon as we modify our wp-config.php with FORCE_SSL_ADMIN = true, to login with HTTPS the plugin is not working anymore. It seems to loop forever somehow.
Same issue occurs with an another plugin called Login With Ajax for example.
Logging in using Sidebar Login from my WordPress frontpage already in a HTTPS session is also working fine. It is mainly an issue going from HTTP to HTTPS from the widget area.
Does someone have an idea or have the same problem solved?

  • Hello – I can confirm I am seeing the same behaviour with WP 3.2.1

As a further test I disabled FORCE_SSL_ADMIN = true and instead enabled SSL on the admin pages via the WordPress HTTPS v2.0 plugin. Same behaviour occurs.

Login via the standard wp-login.php works just fine, as does Sidebar login when SSL is disabled

Bummer! Sidebar Login also does not work with Chap Secure Login plugin, too bad, it’s an awesome plugin.

I’ll always land on the side of security when it’s security vs. convenience, though.

Just added better support for force_ssl_admin and _login
