   I installed this plug in on a site I'm using and while I can see the captcha box, it doesn't actually do it's job.

   It doesn't stop me from posting if I don't fill out the field, however it does make signing up impossible. If I try to sign in, after filling out all the fields properly, I get a strange error message, though I think that may have something to do with the theme I'm using.

   I'm using Answers from Templatic. The error message is "Email ID already exists. Please select a different Email." which is wrong.

   If any one has a fix, or can confirm for me that the problem is with the theme, I'd appreciate any input you can impart.

   Not just you, not just your theme.. This just don't work.. The ONLY place the captcha actually works is in the user registration form. On the login?? Nada.. it's just a pretty graphic that doesn't work at all..

   First check this: make sure the only other security plugins you have are Akismet or WP-spamFree. Akismet and WP-spamFree are the only other anti-spam plugins approved for use with SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam, others can simply break the CAPTCHA validation so that the CAPTCHA is never checked. If another security plugin is combined(not Akismet or WP-spamFree), the captcha may not work. Be sure to always test the CAPTCHA after installing new plugins.

   Maybe another plugin is conflicting.
   Look on the Admin - Plugins - menu.
   Temporarily Disable (not uninstall) all your other plugins.
   Does it work now? If yes, Activate the plugins one by one to determine
   which one conflicts. Which plugin was causing it?

   It could be the theme you are using is causing it...
   Do this as a test:
   In Admin, click on Appearance, Themes.
   Temporarily change your theme to the stock theme:
   “WordPress Default” (default for WP version 2.0+)
   “Twenty Ten” (default for WP version 3.0+)
   “Twenty Eleven” (default for WP version 3.2+)
   It does not cause any harm to temporarily change the theme and change back.
   Does it work properly now?
   If it does then the theme you are using is the cause.

   Not my theme.. I already did the change your theme test before I posed my message..

   But it looks like this plugin doesn't play nicely with Login Lock.. For this site in particular I need the support for secure passwords and brute force attacks that Login Lock offers. So I've had to install a different captcha plugin..

   What was the other captcha plugin you installed?

   Sure Mike that would be great!!! I LOVE your Captcha plugin better.. I was VERY SAD to have to let it go, but I needed to take drastic action to get this client and her admins to set more secure passwords and secure her blog.. **LOL** Gentle talks and lectures weren't working.. Login Lock offered just what the doctor ordered.. I also implemented Bullet Proof Security, and WP_login. Both of which also play nicely with your plugin.

   It works with Login Lock, though I am not crazy about the math problem type of captcha. I was thinking about testing a reCaptcha mod, but like I said when all is said and done, I really would prefer to use yours..

   I had similar problems running a site with latest wordpress. The captcha showed up fine on the login page but you could login without having to complete the captcha. I wonder how many people realise that it actually does not work?
