    Using WordPress 3.0.1 network enabled and BuddyPress

    I installed and configured Shardb with the following (db-settings.php):

    $shardb_hash_length = 1;
    $shardb_prefix = 'fansitep_';
    $shardb_dataset = 'fansitepress';
    $enable_home_db = false;
    $num_vipdbs = 1;
    $shardb_local_db = true;

    I created my databases, all named fansitep_[0-9a-f], fansitep_global, and fansitep_vip1

    when I create a site, the list of sites shows a dataset / partition value (for example, "fansitepress / fansitep_c" but it's actually setting up the tables in the global database and there's nothing in fansitep_c.

    Also, it's telling me that my primary site, the base site, is in "fansitepress / fansite_9" which can't be.

    the home/vip database support doesn't work in a WP 3.0 -> WP network. It does work fine on an upgraded MU install. I haven't had a chance to work out the logic to support that yet.

    You main site will remain in the global database. I would recommend a shorter string for your $shardb_dataset of two or three characters.

    If it's not creating new sites in the shards then you haven't followed the installation instructions correctly. If you put the require( 'db-settings.php'); at the bottom of your wp-config file, that would cause the behavior you are seeing.

    All of your wp-config edits should be above the
    /* that's all ... */ line.

    Thanks. I'll disable the vip setting and will shorten the dataset name.

    I did notice the sites are getting created in other databases now.

    Thanks for the feedback!
