Hi, I am a long time user of SEO Ultimate and I was just seeking a little clarification on what the new Open Graph feature does and how to use it.

    1. Am I right in assuming that this is used to determine what image and description shows up on social networks like FaceBook when one of my posts is shared?

    2. If I leave the title field blank, will my post’s title automatically be pulled as it is with the search engines?

    3. What is the purpose of the “Open Graph Type” setting and how should it be configured? I just left it on default.

Sorry for all the questions but I’m unclear on what Open Graph is and does and couldn’t find much info online.

    Thanks!

    Shawn

    1. Correct.

    2. Yes. SEO Ultimate will use the post/page title as the default Open Graph title.

    3. The defaults should be fine for 99% of sites. Open Graph Type is a way of telling Facebook and other sites what category a particular webpage falls into. Since most blog posts are articles, then “article” will work for almost all blogs. But, for example, if you’re using WordPress as an e-commerce site and your post is actually a product page for a book, then you could pick “Book” from the Open Graph Type dropdown.

Sorry about the lack of info. I just haven’t had time to write some good documentation for the module.

hi, is there any ways to disable this Open Graph? i realized that this open graph creates code like “meta property=”og:title”>. THough this is recognize by google, it doesn’t seems to be recognize by Bing..

in fact, when i run bing webmaster SEO analyzer, it says “no meta description found”…

thus, any ways to disable it or change it back to the good old ways “meta description=”…””?
