SEO Ultimate doesn’t have any way to disable its og:url tag. If the Add Link to Facebook plugin doesn’t either, then I’d say the easiest solution would be to look for another Facebook plugin that doesn’t output Open Graph data, or that at least lets you turn off its Open Graph output.

Please read here for support on Add Link to Facebook.

It is possible to switch off the OGP for Add Link to Facebook, but this could have side effects.

Marcel: Would there still be side effects even if Open Graph data was being outputted by another plugin, such as SEO Ultimate? Is there something unique to the OGP data outputted by Add Link to Facebook?

    – John Lamansky, SEO Ultimate developer

@john: Yes, since Add Link to Facebook outputs OGP meta tags for the link picture/video, which is selected by the plugin/user (this is the main reason for conflicts). Other OGP meta tags that are needed for a correct function of the plugin are: type, url, app_id, admins, locale and less important, but not unimportant: site_name, title, description.

If you want to integrate both plugins in some way, please contact me using this contact form to discuss how this could be done.

Thanks to both of you for responding so quickly to this.

From a user standpoint it would be great if these great plugins could be made to work together. I absolutely must use SEO Ultimate being it has worked so well for me in the past. I would also really love to use Add Link to Facebook, as it is the best way I’ve seen (in WP) to truly integrate Facebook with a site.

So here is a thought, what if each plugin would write over the current value of og:url instead of adding it to an array? They are both inputting the same value, the problem is it is added twice.

For anyone else trying to run both of these, at this point, turning off OGP in Add Link to FB seems to cause more problems (missing images, etc) than just leaving it on and accepting the FB error. With both running, and OGP on I haven’t noticed any problems so far, despite the error.

Another thought; each plugin could check the current value of og:url, and if that was equal to the value the plugin intended to set, to just stop (not set the value). This way there would be no setting the same url twice .
