Sometimes I see the "comment using" drop down at the bottom right of the facebook comment box. And then sometimes it just says "comment" and so I can't choose to login with AOL, Yahoo, or Hotmail

    Is there a setting problem?
Any insight on how to resolve?

I have posted an IMAGE showing the COMMENTS USING button on one of my sites and the COMMENT button on the other. This image will help you understand the difference and help me understand and resolve this challenge.

That is because comment plugin dont recognize that u are logged on FB. Just log on facebook and stay logged, refresh page with seo comments .. and button will be enabled.

It's nothing to do with the plugin, you need to set it up under Facebook comment setting. Log in to your Facebook comment moderator account to set it. That how I do it at my blog on free PC software.

    Hope that will help.

but I found that other plugin like "facebook comment for WordPress" could have a facebook comment box without the drop-down menu ...

You know in my country, few people using AOL, so would be very confusing for new user to see an input box like this ...

Old facebook plugins did not have that option. New comments have posibility to login and comment via that providers.

you can check all about fb comments on this link.
