Using shortcode in a page pushes output to top (1 post)

The Search Engine plugin is fantastic in every way except one: when I use the shortcode in a page, it doesn't matter whereabouts in the page the shortcode is, the search field always appears at the top of the resulting page. This means that I can't write an introduction (unless I hard-code it into the template, which I'm reluctant to do), because the intro text will always appear underneath the search field and the search results.

So if I edit my page as follows:

Looking for something specific? Try the search:
    [search_engine sites="1"]

    the output ends up as:

[ search box ] [search button]

    Result 1
    Result 2
    Result 3
    etc.

Looking for something specific? Try the search:

How can I get the search box and results to appear where I put them using the shortcode?
