Ad LagendijkAs explained by Joost de Valk widgets should not always be shown. For instance a choice is to show them only when the user is viewing the home page.
To this end I have added an option to this widget that allows to conditionally (using php) show the widget. For instance is_home() can be used as the showing condition. The showing condition could also involve categories or tags. If there is enough interest I might put it up here.
I have added the same option to the built-in text widget.
