    Hi

I'm completely new to WordPress / webpages. I have set up a site where I want to add thumbnails on a page which link to another page within my site.

I used the gallery function as I like the way it lays out the images, but cannot get it to link. I downloaded the RPS-Gallery Plugin and installed it as per instructuions. I'm pretty sure it worked as I have the following
"Gallery Link URL - Enter a relative or absolute link that should be followed when the image is clicked from within an image gallery."

I put this link to the page I want in here and save all changes but thumbnail does not link through.

I would really appreciate any help you can supply.

    many thanks

    Jason

Greetings Jason. Sorry that you are having trouble with the link feature of the RPS Image Gallery plugin. With just a bit more information from you we should be able to assist.

    1. Does clicking the thumbnail image that has a Gallery Link URL bound to it result in an error? If so, what is the error?
    2. Could you provide us with a link to the page containing the gallery in question so that we may investigate further?

Any other specifics that you could provide about the configuration that seem relevant could be helpful as well. We look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi

    Thanks for your reply.

Here is the link to the page http://alittlebitsideways.co.nz/for-sale/

I'm trying to link the thumbnails on this page direct to another page on my site. All that happens when clicked in the image opens in another page.

I filled in the Gallery Link URL as http://alittlebitsideways.co.nz/for-sale/mitsubishi-mirage/ (and the corresponding pages to images.) The images appear to follow the Link URL section whether it has an entry or not.

Being a firs time user of WordPress and your plugin, I have no idea if I'm doing it correctly.

I look forward to hearing from you when you've had a chnce to look at the links.

    regards

    Jason

Hi Jason - We tested the RPS current version of RPS Image Gallery with WordPress 3.4.1 (the version you are using) and are unable to reproduce the error.

One thing to check is if the Gallery Link URLs are actually being saved. We are using validation, so if you types something incorrectly in the field it will strip it out.

It may be possible that you confusing "Link URL," a WordPress default field, with "Gallery Link URL," a field specific to RPS Image Gallery. However, as it is now, it does not appear that you are using RPS Image Gallery (the default WordPress gallery is active), so we can't really tell much more.

    Hi

Thanks for checking this for me. I downloaded, installed and activated the plugin. Do I need to do somethign else for it to work? I just assumed it had worked as the is now a Gallery Link URL box which there wasn't before from memory.

How do I de-activate the WordPress galley please so the RPS version takes over?

    Many thanks

    Jason

Jason - You don't need to do anything else; if you are seeing the Gallery Link field then the plugin is installed. The RPS Image Gallery extends the functionality of the WordPress gallery, so you wouldn't deactivate that.

OK - Thanks - I must be doing something wrong somewhere then.

I just tried to paste a screen grab here but it didn't work. There is one difference I've noticed between my screen and the one in your Screenshots page...I dont have an update media button near the Gallery URL Link box (but I do have update gallery right the bottom) and on the Upload / Inset area I have a small icon of a camera and a music symbol...on your screeshot you have another icon next to it.

I know this must be a pain trying to help when its user error, but being so new to this I could really do with any help you can supply

    Many thanks

    Jason

    Try following plugin
    http://geekeemedia.com/wordpress/add-a-custom-url-to-your-wordpress-gallery-images/
It exactly do the thing which you want to do and you don't have to do anything else except adding your desired links in the custom link field. You can do it to all your images as well by visiting media library.
    Nice Plugin.
