I'm completely new to wordpress, and I'm trying to figure out the robot file.
Currently I have this.
User-agent: *
Allow: /
Which I take it allows my website to be very free?
But I also have another robot file given to me, but I don't understand much about it, and I want to ensure it's suitable for what I want. Specifically I want a robot that helps in SEO purposes, do robots do this?
My fear is that uploading the robot I have, the robot will actual block google from my site. And this is obviously not good.
So the first question is, if this "new robot" file is up to no good and takes me off of google, I simply need to put up my old robot file and everything will revert back to normal right? I simpyly just copy and paste the old text into the field in the "robots meta tab".
Second question is that the new robot file has a string of text that says
"# Robots Controlled by Parmanand Trivedi"
What if I don't trust Parmanand? Is his name in the file somehow give im control over my site? Is his name in the file just a formality? Can anyone have control over a robot file from a distance?
If anyone really understands robot files, if you could take a peak and tell me what it's really "up to", that would be great. I'm just learning as much as I can from it in the meantime.
