[Plugin: Reveal IDs for WP Admin] Why isn't this in WP??? (4 posts)

Why isn't this being included in WP as a default? I can't live without it! It works, is 100% unobtrusive, and unlike a few other plugins I've run into, never interferes with the functionality of any theme I've tried.

    Because it's not really needed?

    esmi - I disagree

There are many times when you need the IDs displayed alongside the content in tables - particularly if you are looking for a particular ID to cross reference against something when bug hunting

More common "user" requirement times include when you have multi-language sites and the translators are not geeks, but need access to IDs to check against task lists and so on.

My productivity (new content) dropped around 20% when 2.5 dropped the ID display because of all the optical contortions needed to scroll, hover, look-down to check ID, and so forth,

This change was a prime example of an uncalled removal of a useful item. WordPress should have polled the userbase regarding this one - and I don't mean just here on dot org, but also over on dot com too.

+1 for bring it back into core

There's a ticket for that already, but Matt doesn't want it back in core.

So you'll have to stick with the plugin.
