A couple of questions:
- Are these taxonomies on custom post types?
- Are you looking for it to restrict non-hierarchical taxonomies such as Tags?
- If yes to #2, are you also looking to restrict based on custom post types?

1. Nope, I created a new tax for regular posts and pages. No new post types.
2. No, hierarchical only.

My need is pretty simple… I have a dozen or so authors, each one responsible for a different subject. I would like each user restricted to that subject (the custom tax). However, I don’t want to use the built in Categories taxonomy for this, because they need to be able to share categories.

To be honest, I haven’t had a chance to work on it because I focused attention on my latest plugin, Visual Form Builder, but I do plan to at some point.
