   Is there a plugin that would automatically blog, either picking randomly from a pool or going in sequence out of that pool, every X posts?

   See, we want to blog about one of our DVDs every so often, that we sell on our main site outside of our blog. We always want there to be a few ads for our DVDs on the main pages, AND we want them to appear as normal posts so that people don't just glaze over them.

   Is this possible/is there an existing plugin for it?

   I don't think there is one. But perhaps the Archivist plugin could fit your purpose. The archivist plugin randomly selects a post to display. You set where it displays. And you can set which categories it selects from. So, you could put your DVD posts in one category that you don't use for other posts and have the Archivist select only from that category.
