[resolved] How to uninstall Relevanssi? (11 posts)

    I have Relevanssi Version 3.0.4 installed, but I have to remove it - the database is getting too big (allready 1647897 Terms in the index...)

    In the "Installation" instrcutions you write:
    To uninstall the plugin, first click the "Remove plugin data" button on the plugin settins page to remove options and database tables...
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/relevanssi/installation/

    I don't have a button named "Remove plugin data" on the settins page ...

    So, how can I uninstall Relevanssi complete, so that also all Data from the Database are removed?

    Thank you for your help!

    Indeed, this looks like it's missing. You probably need to drop the wp_relevanssi_* tables:

    wp_relevanssi
    wp_relevanssi_cache
    wp_relevanssi_excerpt_cache
    wp_relevanssi_log
    wp_relevanssi_stopwords

    and remove all the options from wp_options:
    delete from wp_options where option_name like 'relevanssi%' limit 100;

    Thank you for your answer!

    NO Uninstall?

    Really bad... :-( ... if this is true....

    Maybe the Uninstall is only a feature of the PAID version of Relevanssi... ?
    (but of course, would be more usefull in the Free version...)

    I would like to test Relevanssi also on some of my other Hosts to see, if its also getting so extremly slow with a larger number of Posts...
    But if there is no automatic way to Uninstall Relevanssi... I think ... better I do not...

    Thank you for your help!

    I actually just opened a ticket about the speed - Relevanssi is pretty slow with only 4400 posts for me. Pretty upsetting.

    Sorry, the plugin options page is misleading and will be fixed in the next version.

    There's an uninstall method, and it's wholly automatic. I'm a nice person, and would not charge money for an uninstall feature.

    There used to be a "Remove plugin data" button, but now all you need to do is to deactivate and delete from WordPress, and the database tables and options will be removed.

    Relevanssi is heavy and requires lots of power from server, as it has to do lots of computations to provide the results.

    @Mikko, I don't think deactivating uninstalls it (I used svn trunk version as of 2 days ago). I've deactivated and reactivated it multiple times but all the options and tables remained intact.

    @Mikko
    Thank you - everything was removed when I uninstalled Relevanssi!

    @archon810
    not just deactivate - uninstall

    All the best!

    The way I usually uninstall a plugin is by deactivating it and removing its files from disk. After it's deactivated and the files are removed, I don't see where the logic to clean up would come from since it's located within the plugin's files that were deleted. What am I missing?

    Just use the WordPress 'uninstall' from WP-Admin Plugins Page...

    Yes, once you have deactivated the plugin, WordPress shows the option to delete the plugin. Use that. I recommend always removing plugins that way, because that triggers the plugin uninstalling process plugin authors can use.
