Relevanssi - A Better Search
[resolved] Can't figure out why it's still using the WP search (5 posts)

    Hello,

I use Relevanssi on another site, and it works great. Thank you! I'm currently trying to use it on http://www.marciamountshoop.com, but I keep getting results that I can tell are coming from the WP Search (because they're not in order of relevance, terms not highlighted, etc.)

I've checked the search.php template thoroughly (twice to be sure), and there's definitely no query_posts() on it.

In the past, I had discovered that the plugin Google Analytics caused Relevanssi to fail. So I uninstalled it completely; still no success.

Deactivated ALL of my plugins and tried again; still no success.

Any ideas or suggestions? There's something with this site, I know, but I just can't figure out what it is.

Thanking you VERY MUCH in advance,

    Patty

Ah, a Studio Press theme. Genesis?

See this thread for how to make Relevanssi work with Studio Press Genesis theme, maybe it applies in your case as well.

That thread was helpful, thank you. For the record, the problem had nothing at all to do with Genesis.

Also, the Genesis Theme Setting that was the solution for the person on that thread was *not* the fix for me. (I don't have that setting.)

The Child Theme I'm using just has a very ordinary, not very well-written, search.php file, which didn't have the requirements that Relevanssi needs.

The crucial bit of information for me was that search.php needed to use the_excerpt() and not the_content(). That was all I needed to know. Relevanssi didn't work at all before that, but as soon as I changed it, it worked as expected.

Thanks very much for your help!

    Patty
