   I'd like to simplify the registration process, by removing all unnecessary fields. I'd like to allow or automate the usage of the email address as username.

   Surely that must somehow be possible?

   I wrote an enhanced version of CYC that does that. You can get it from http://ootips.org/yonat/cyc.php.gz (I wasn't able to contact the author of CYC to merge it into the trunk).

   that sounds great, but it looks like I am missing essential parts fro, register-plus:

   the most important one is the double opt-in feature as I send a newsletter to my users. this is the corresponding feature i nregister-plus:

   'Requires new registrations to click a link in the notification email to enable their account.
   Grace Period (days):
   Unverified Users will be automatically deleted after grace period expires'

   any solution to this?

   CYC doesn't seem to offer this feature :-(
