Upgrading to 3.1: Plugin not working (6 posts)

After upgrading to 3.1, site acting strangely, not just redirections, but home page etc. links all messed up. I disabled the plugin and everything went back to normal.

I have looked through the forum and the list of plugins known to not work with 3.1 and still can't figure out--does the plugin work with WordPress 3.1 or not? I will have many broken links if it does not work, so I'm desperate to get it working.

I've recreated my .htaccess file already, that did not work.

In my experience, the Redirection plugin has been causing problems since WordPress 3.0

Thanks--the plugin looks to be abandoned, do you know of a substitute?

Sorry - I don't but you could have a look through this list (if you haven't already):

    Hi Mimi,

We're actively and successfully using Redirection in 3.1. It may be that our team has already updated Redirection for 3.1 (at one point we did have an internal version running around with some tweaks we needed). John Godley used to be CTO here before joining Automattic. If John has really dropped Redirection, we'll pick it up and maintain it going forward.

On the other hand, if John does intend to maintain Redirection we don't want to release a fork.

    Does anyone know John's intentions?

    Hi Mimi,

It looks like John is still actively maintaining Redirection. Last update was in December 2010. I've checked with our team:

Redirection works just fine, it's just the automated redirections don't work.

Solution is simple. Use manual redirections and disable automated redirections. We successfully use Redirection on dozens of WordPress 3.1 sites.
