[Plugin: Recommended Reading: Google Reader Shared] Future Feature for Folders? (5 posts)

This is nice, but it only picks up individual shared items. I'd like to be able to automatically pick up the feed for a shared folder, e.g., this one:

    https://www.google.com/reader/shared/user%2F14779347014733819474%2Flabel%2FSavings

As it is, I have to "share" every item I want to show up in the widget.

    Thanks for your consideration!

Developer here -- thanks for the feedback!

I'm embarrassed to say I never even knew you could do that until you mentioned it. I had to look up how to share folders! Google Reader continues to impress me.

We'll definitely add this to the road map!

On a side note, I only check comments here every so often. If you leave a comment on our blog post about it we're more likely to see the feedback (plus it helps other visitors):

Thanks for the plugin it's great the way it loads a list of what i set to Share from in my Google Reader in the Sidebar.

However i was only tested in the sidebar and really want to be able to put it in a full page in WP, not a post, a page.

Can you add some easy to understand text in the wp download instructions or in this thread or at your site on how to pull the Recormended Reading into a page. Like can i just put. [insert-recormended-reading] or something similar in a pages html in edit mode and publish it?

Then also if the list was at the top of the page would it be able to pull the article into a table below or something like that so that the articles can be read in the wp page. I noticed in Google read that some blogs articles can not be fully read in GR and you have to go to the original blog to read it. Can this be over come?

Also it might need a separate list to be able to [insert-list-of-various recent-posts] and a full diggest of the history of all with [insert-recormended-reading]. This would require to be able to create/save one or more Recormended Reading lists in the wp settings and be able to copy the [insert-list-code-#1] or [insert-list-code-#2] and paste into any blog post or page!

Then you could have a full wide page with [insert-list-of-various recent-posts] at the top of a page which would be a setting of 0-20 and when you click on one of the links it loads the article in a below section with the title and article below. All these could possibly befor a cirtain date (i'm not sure) but need only recent posts instead of all shared.

Then below the article reading area [insert-recormended-reading] which would have a full list of shared past ones. I currently have 291 articles from various blogs. I would have a digest of previous posts in that of a list of 50 long or something.

Hope i'm being clear... maybe there is a way and i can not see it, please explain if there is!? I'm not sure but i want to be able to read the articles in the wp page inself if at all possible with something very easy for my users to just click the link and load it in to read it :).

    Jaffasoft -

Great feedback. I think version 2.0 solves at least some of these requestions; you can use the [recreading] short code to embed the output into a page, and the options page gives you some unique control over this output.

In a future version, we'll add the ability to override the options page when calling the output by function in a template or by short code attributes (i.e. [recreading list="20" source="false"]).

The idea for a block below the list that would load a full item when the title is click is a neat one that we'll add to the desired features list.

You can accomplish something similar with some custom CSS right now. You could display none everything in the item except the title, and add a ":hover" state to the item's container that would display block all the hidden pieces. This would show the full item as users roll over the titles.

For future reference, we're much more responsive to comments over at our plugin's page on our website:

(I know you've recently posted there, so this also for the benefit of others)
