[Plugin: Quotes Collection] a few questions

    I have a few questions. I’d like to use this plugin but there’s some extended functionality I need. I’m wondering if the following is possible:

    – to display the random quote wordpress widget on a forum sidebar (the forum is a subdirectory of the blog, but not a part of wordpress)

    – to display html/javascript next to every quote (implement facebook like for individual quotes)

    I’m clue-less as to if this is possible and what steps to take.

    Hi,

    I don’t think you can do this with this plugin (or any other random quote plugin for WordPress, as they can’t ‘transmit” the data to another WP site, let alone another non-WP site…) but you should still wait for the developer to confirm… maybe I’m wrong, or maybe he can suggest a way.

    However, I do think you could do it with another commercial WordPress plugin called OIO Publisher – it’s primarily designed for banner ads, text links, reviews etc, but it can display them on other sites including non-wordpress sites (…you run the ads from the WP site & then place the code into other sites, including non-wordpress sites…. then the ads are all managed via OIO publisher program…it rotates them too so it should achieve what you need..). I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t use it for displaying random quotes instead of ads…. but maybe check it out via the plugin developer (…the developer is very active / helpful so you could also check with him on the OIO Publisher forum….) – costs $47 (….we sell it on our site actually & currently have a special offer on it at the moment, available on our site Business-In-Site.com )
