Just tried the latest version of this plugin (tried previous versions but had to re-build the site after it completely breaking down – that’s all been resolved/repaired now though).

Main issue I’m having is with the Show/Hide function. I first added it with the default set to “Show”, tried the “Hide” link to make sure it worked and it did, but now clicking the “Show” link doesn’t, well show the form. I tried resetting the default to “Show” but the form still won’t show up (cleared the cache multiple times). Any ideas?

Am I right to understand that the plugin broke your site down? If so, that’s very weird. I never encountered that.

It’s also weird that hiding the widget works, but showing doesn’t. Do you have sessions enabled? Do you see any java errors? Is it possible to grant me access to your site (address in quick-post-widget.php file) to troubleshoot or do you perhaps have guest posting enabled so I can check anyway?

No the rest of the site is fine, it’s just the widget that’s the problem. I’m not sure what you mean by “sessions”, haven’t came across anything like that as far as I’m aware.

However, I’ve just noticed the following errors displayed directly above the list of included categories:

Warning: Missing argument 2 for FEE_Field_Category::wrap() in /…/wp-content/plugins/front-end-editor/fields/post.php on line 423

Warning: Missing argument 3 for FEE_Field_Category::wrap() in /…/wp-content/plugins/front-end-editor/fields/post.php on line 423

Warning: Missing argument 2 for FEE_Field_Category::wrap() in /…/wp-content/plugins/front-end-editor/fields/post.php on line 423

Warning: Missing argument 3 for FEE_Field_Category::wrap() in /…/wp-content/plugins/front-end-editor/fields/post.php on line 423

It appears the errors have been generated for each category included (7 in total) and after looking at the file mentioned above the line indicated shows:

    function wrap( $content, $sep, $parents ) {

which doesn’t really give much away on its own, however, the whole code block that it’s part of may be more useful:

Could it be an incompatibility issue with the Front End Editor plugin? I’ll enable guest posting for a day or 2 so you can look at it yourself, I’ll PM you the site address…

Hmm, doesn’t seem possible to PM anymore, which is really annoying! In any case I think I’ve discovered that this issue only occurs for users who permission to use the Front End Editor plugin. After enabling guest posting I loaded the site in another browser so I could view it as a guest without having to log out, and the “Hide/Show” function works perfectly in both cases. This also strengthens the implication that it’s an incompatibility issue with Front End Editor (maybe caused by sharing taxonomies – but I can only guess at that). For the most part I’ll be the only actual admin on the site as I’d intended to use this plugin for the Authors role, so as long as I can prevent them having access to the Front End Editor plugin they should be able to use this widget easily enough… 🙂

Instead of a PM you can mail me (address in the quick-post-widget.php file).
Perhaps it is possible for you to create a temporary account for me on your site?

Ok, just created an admin account for you.

You should see an e-mail – hopefully – from Slide It In…

Additionally you could try installing the Front End Editor along with your plugin yourself and see if you have the same problem, just in case it’s being caused by something else… :-/

Found out your site’s address a couple of hours ago and tried some different browsers. As mentioned on your site IE doesn’t work very well but the show/hide functionality works OK in Chrome, FireFox 4, Safari 5 and Opera 11.

I can see some errors, at least in Chrome and IE, about the BubbleTooltips and InsiteBar plugins.
Perhaps you can try to disable those.

By the way, you use A LOT of plugins…

On my testsites I use my plugin in conjunction with plugins like the FrontEnd Editor, Inline Editor etc., and they work OK together.

In my opinion you should, just for test purposes, disable BubbleTooltips and InsiteBar to make it, perhaps, work in IE.
As said, the Quick Post Widget works fine on your site in at least four other browsers.

That’s really bizarre because the browser I use to work on that site is Orca which runs on FireFox’s engine (it literally won’t run unless FireFox is installed on the same machine), although it is version 3 (the latest build version) of FireFox so maybe that’s why. In any case I’ll give that a try over the next couple of days when I’ve got time and see how it goes 🙂

And yes, I do use a lot of plugins, the goal was to create a sort of niche mini-blog network dedicated to a specific topic, but I realised that wouldn’t be possible without a lot of work and more time that I’m able to dedicate to it just now, so we’ve opted for a social network type site, but because we want to allow members to submit media footage as well as regular text posts we’ve had to pimp it out in a big way, still nowhere close to completion though 🙁

Just a little piece of information. I’ve got a similar problem with Front-end editor plugin. QPW just unfolds ok when I click on “show”, but it folds again in a second without mouse action. So, i disabled the possibility of editing the widgets zone in Front-end editor and all seems ok now.

Seems there is another problem between the two plugins with “categories checklist” option in QPW, but i didn’t test it further (I use droplist)

Fine plugin inapan, and the show/hide is a really useful feature for QPW.

Just a quick follow-up – deactivated both of those plugins – Nice Tooltips (the plugin that gave the “BubbleTooltips” errors) & InsiteBar – but the “Warning:” messages still appear in the same place. Not too surprised to be honest since the messages refer specifically to that Front-End Editor file but was worth a shot. I’ll keep trying to figure out the cause but if you (or anyone) beat me to it please let me know… 🙂

@ouranos2 – thanks for the tip, gave it a try and although (while using the Droplist option) the errors were cleared when I try to “Show” the form it automatically closes. Tried reloading the page (after of course clearing the browser cache) and now the form is always closed despite being set to “Show” by default.

I’ve been noticing more & more that wordpress struggles to utilise advanced coding techniques (such as jQuery, Ajax, etc…) in more than one area of a single page at a time, including the sidebars. Examples of this have been using the Multi-level Navigation plugin along with the Ajax Easy Attendance List plugin, and now One Quick Post with Front-End Editor. In all fairness Front-End Editor was put in place mainly for convenience so if need be I’ll deactivate it but would be nice if they (and other plugins) worked together 😉
