    Am I correct in thinking this plugin could be used for category and tag intersections and could be used instead of http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tdo-tag-fixes/

    Yes, it treats built-in taxonomies just like any other.

    It doesn't support OR queries ( ?tax=foo,bar ) yet.
