Stripping text before a dash in the subject line as done by postie for setting a category confuses some users. Therefore I would appreciate either

Make it configurable (wether text in dashes is taken for a category)

    or

Leave the subject line “as is” in any case

    or

Leave the subject line “as is” if no matching category is found

Maybe the same is reasonable for text left to a colon – we just didn’t have troubles with that yet. We would however like to keep the “category left to a colon” feature while disablling the “category between dashes” syntax.

    Thanks!

  • Please do something about this. Either introduce a way of saying in the config “Leave the subject line as is”, or introduce a way of saying in the email that colons and dashes should be read literally (for example, allow for ‘escaping’ these special characters).

We have been using postie extensively to post to our site, and contributors always complain that the post titles are not read correctly.
