Can I hope that will be able to use one post or even a whole category in two or more languages at a time without duplicating posts with the same content? For example posts that contain only images.

I started to use the plugin today, I don't know if there are a specif option for what you need. I want to know if someone have a solution about this.

I've tried and tried to use tha same post in two languages with no result. Is there anyone who knows if this is possible?

It is currently not possible. I am currently thinking how I could technically do that. Moreover, there is a question... Which language to use when displaying only this post ?

I think the question is, for example a Gallery page, files page or something where the content is the same for both or more languages, and no edit each page for each language when the content will be the same.

I understand the need. But Polylang needs to choose a language for the theme. And for the link to this post too (when adding the language in all url).
For your information, I started to work on media translations for 0.9 (translation of caption and description for example).

Wow! you are the developer, nice to meet you. The best feature of the plugin, is the way to keep all clean and organized. Excellent work. Are you accepting donations?

Nice to meet you too and thank you for your positive feedback. I will try to keep things clean and simple in the future. It is in fact my main goal.
Donations are always appreciated ;-) There is paypal button in the screen where you create languages since v0.8. Or a link on the plugin page as most other plugins.
