   When I publish the post, I just see the display [polldaddy poll=1001XXX] (anonymizing the poll with 'Xes) and don't see the actual poll.

   Yes, me too. On WordPressMU, with polldaddy in the /plugins/ directory.

   You no longer need this extra plugin. See below.

   You need another plugin http://support.polldaddy.com/?p=15 besides that.
   That one is responsible for displaying polls.

   Thanks @goto, this wasn't apparent from the installation instructions of this plugin. The other plugin does the trick.

   The fact that http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/polldaddy/ did not display the polls was a bug. The newest version: 0.4 (available for download at that link soon) fixes that.

   After upgrading to 0.4, you do not need the other plugin, just the one.
