    Dear plugin author:

    Firstly thanks a lot for your developing the tool, it looks like exactly what I need, and I am eager to use it. However, I meet a serious problem upon installation.

    I have downloaded the latest version of Pods CMS and Pods UI, and installed them into wordpress 3.0 as the normal procedure, no error occured and the basic menu and functions looks fine so far. The .htaccess file is exactly the same as the .htaccess.txt in the plugin folder. But I am doubtful of whether I have install it sucessfully because:

    1. After creating a new pod and adding some new columns, I can not drag, edit and remove them, the icons are useless.
    2. There are no example pods (country and state) in the Pods CMS while I find some tutorial mentioned, nor I didn't find the demo pods in Pods UI which seems exist in the sources scripts.
    3. The interface of my Pods have no Welcome tag which is shown in many tutorials.

    I use Ubuntu 10.04 and the debug information in the Pods setting tag are:
    * PHP 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.2
    * Apache/2.2.14 (Ubuntu)
    * MySQL 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.3
    * Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; zh-CN; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100625 Firefox/3.6.6
    * WordPress 3.0
    * cforms 11.5
    * Pods CMS 1.8.9
    * Pods UI 0.6.8.4
    * WP-Table Reloaded 1.7
    * WP Responder 4.9

    I am sorry but I cannot provide you link to my site because I have no public space.

    Frankly I am very new to both php and wordpress, but I really want to take use of this great tool, your kind help is greatly appreciated.

    Best wishes
    Yang

    Hey Yang,

    Sorry to hear you've been having problems. It looks like you should have no problem, but I can understand your frustration. Something must be going wrong and I'm here to help. Have you tried going to the Pods >> Setup >> Settings tab and clicking "Reset"? When you do, do you see your State / Country sample pods?

    Dear Scott:

    Many thanks for your enthusiasm, but unfortunately, I have tried to reset the pods many times and even reboot the problem is still there.

    By the way, the /etc/apache2/httpd.conf in my computer is empty, while I find someone said it should be configured...
    I install the LAMP packages via the Synaptic ("Mark Packages by Task") built in Ubuntu, and didn't configure more by myself.

    It would be greatly appreaciated if you could give me some more suggestions.

    Regards
    Yang

    Ouch, sounds a bit sticky. Could you post a screenshot of the Setup panel where you can't move fields around? If you'd like, we can arrange a time that you can share your screen with me. contact (at) podscms (dot) org

    Thank you so much for your help, Scott.

    Things seem improved a little bit and the editing and deleting icons are working now. And I can find the Demo of Gadgets, Foobars and LOLCats in the sidebar either. (Just after giving 777 to the whole plugins folder once again. I don't know why since the Pods folder was 777 already).
    However, the welcome and "country and state" example are still missing.

    For your information, I have upload my screenshots in the following links. http://photo.163.com/sunshine817
    Since many of the popular photosharing website are unavailable in China, I have to choose this Chinese site. Hope you could understand.

    Now my biggest question is, might be naive, how to display the content in the pods (even for the demo pods)? I can not choose any page or template in the menus.
    I have read the tutorial carefully, but still in confusion. Should I paste the php codes to the new added pages/templates, or create a new php files in somewhere of my site folder? Would you give me some indication?

    Finally, I hope I didn't take too much of your time, and you can reply me whenever you like.
    Regards, Yang

    Try reseting one more time, if you still do not see the State / Country listed there, please let me know. As for the Pod Pages / Templates, you'll want to add new ones for your purpose.

    Check out this tutorial for more information about how to get started with Pods:

    There is a whole series from this blog about Pods there, so feel free to read through them all.
