    Hi,

Seems that the player WORKS on Chrome/explorer/safari but wont work on firefox on apple(keeps buffering)...

The download link wont work on all of the browser from what I know.

Here is the link to the podacasts http://hmseb.com/category/podcast

I tried to play with the "html 5" option, doesn't seem to change anything.

    Thanks in advance!

You are using the statistics feature of podPress. The fundamental element of this feature is that podPress masks temporarily all URLs of media files which you attach with podPress. The URL scheme of these files looks like http://www.example.com/podpress_trac/web/1234/0/filename.mp3 instead of e.g http://www.example.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/filename.mp3.
If someone requests such a media file with a masked URL then podPress counts the click and redirects automatically the request to the real URL.

But something in your blog interferes during that process.

It is very likely that it is another plugin. I have noticed that if you click on the download link of one of your podcasts then the download does not start and you get redirected to the front page of your blog.
I have also noticed that the Safari/Chrome/IE9 browser show the MediaElement.js player instead of the default HTML5 player of the web browser.
The plugin which adds MediaElement.js seems to interfere a lot. But I'm not sure whether it is responsible for the problem with the redirects. That is why I recommend to deactivate one plugin, reload the page and check whether the download link works or not. If it works then you know that the deactivate plugin was responsible. But if the download link still does not work, re-activate the plugin and deactivate the next in the list and control the download link again.
When I know which plugin interferes, I'm maybe able to help.

    Regards,
    Tim

    Hi,

I found that the plugin that adds the Mediaelement.js, is this one http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wphtml5player/

It is now deactivated, but the download link was still not working. I deactivated the stats option and now the download seems to be working...

With the interfering plugin deactivated, do you still see something that could mess with podpress?

    Thanks

I deactivated the stats option and now the download seems to be working

I have not mentioned that possibility before because I would like to know which other plugin interfere with podPress. Maybe something in podPress is not as it should be programmed and when I know in which combination of plugins problem occur then I can try to fix podPress.

Deactivating the stats feature of podPress is one solution but does not bring much progress.

That is why I would like to ask you whether you could tell me the names of all your other plugins (so that I can do the tests on my own) or that you activate the stats feature again and proceed as suggested above until you find the other plugin for me.

I have only a other hint with minor importance: iTunes prefers square .jpg images that are at least 600 x 600 pixels as the <itunes:image>. see http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html#image

    I have:
    Google Analytics for WordPress
    HTML5 Multimedia Framework
    Jetpack by WordPress.com
    Spam Free WordPress
    Tumblrize
Tweet, Like, Google +1 and Share
    WP to Twitter

Deactivated all of them and with the "stats" on podpress, the download link isn't working...

Thank you for doing the tests and for the list of the plugins.
I will do some tests on my own in the next days and report back afterwards.

HTLM 5 Multimedia Framework is the one fooling around with "MediaElement.js" but it doesn't seemed to make a difference even deactivated...

One other thing, can you embed the podpress from one site on another?

    thanks

I have downloaded and installed all the plugins from the list above. But I could not reproduce the problem. But most of the plugins have a lot of options or require a WP.com account (Jetpack).
Because it would be difficult to exchange all your settings in order to rebuild the situation in your blog, I would like to ask you to test the plugins yourself.
Activate the stats feature again for this test. Deactivate one plugin, reload the page and check whether the download link works or not. If it works then you know that the deactivate plugin was responsible.

BTW: Tumblerize produces an error on activation and WP does not activate it.

One other thing, can you embed the podpress from one site on another?

You can specify a full URL in the Location field in the podPress box below the post editor. This URL may point to a file on a different server or website.
