• I am encountering an issue where larger sized MP3 files will not stream (are playable) directly on my website.
Here is the URL for my website-
    http://idacio.com/RealmOfMusic

What is odd is that smaller files, 1 hour (109 MBs) music sets play just fine on the website but the 2 hour (274 MBs) long sets do not. All the music files are 128kbps.
The podPress version that I currently have is 8.8.

I did searches to see if I could resolve this issue, at first I thought the issues I am encountering may be due to the files sizes but found a post that states the file size isn’t an issue.
    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-podpress-podpress-plugin-cant-stream-large-mp3-file-400mb?replies=15

I also tried within that post the changing of the ID3 tags to ID3v2.2 but that didn’t resolve my issue. The ID tags are the same ones that I have been using for quite some time.

Any available advice and or assistance to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Robert

These boards can move fast, still looking for some help with this issue if possible, thanks. 🙂

As you can read in the older thread, the file size can be a problem in combination with the stats method Full+. In every case it is a good advice to you Counts Only or maybe Full but not Full+.

But the file size might not be the problem in this case at all. You have modified the file name scheme for your big files. All the file names of the big files contain an ampersand sign (&) which is something like a reserved character in the context of URLs. file and folder names of a web site should also not include number signs (#), question marks (?) nor double points (:). These characters have special meanings in an URL see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Url .
Although the web browsers seem to handle the URLs of your files fine and it is possible to download the files, but something works different in connection with the mp3 players on the web site.

Please, rename your files and use a plus or write “and” instead of the ampersand.

Ah OK, I see. Never had an issue previously with any of the music files, for a few years now.

I’ve never used the “Download Statistics” feature, I had been more concerned about listeners being able to get the content.
I understand what you’re saying, what originally confused me had been everything working except the player on the site itself and playing the content.
I’m going to change file names now, remove the ampersand and try out the use of “and” instead.

I changed the file names to making use of “and,” I’m very happy to report that the files are now playing on the site.

Thank you Tim for your help, it’s greatly appreciated.
    Have a great day.

    Kind regards,
    Robert
