So- if I had to do it all again, I would never have used Feedburner for these category feeds on Podpress.

I created them because at the time, I didn’t know what Podtrac was. However to really make podtrac work, I would have started by simply using the original Podpress category feeds directly to iTunes, then using Podtracs enhanced feeds instead.

Unfortunately, what I have now is this middle-man: feedburner. For one of our feeds, I thought I could simply delete the Feedburner feed. Now, even the original feed doesn’t work:

    edreach.us/category/littech/feed

    .

In my wisdom, I deleted the feedburner feed associated with that category, and feedburner is still directing to an error page. How long does it take for me to get back the original feed? When will they stop redirecting? Just curious…

In order to fix this, I’d have to start all over with a new category, and republish to iTunes. That’s not what I want to do.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

Is there any way to get rid of this?

You can get rid of the additional Feedburner elements by deactivating the SmartCast function in your Feedburner account.

Now, even the original feed doesn’t work:

    edreach.us/category/littech/feed

The feed seems to work now.

I deleted the feedburner feed associated with that category,

What does this mean? Did you use a further plugin to create redirects to Feedburner?

    When will they stop redirecting?

Porbably when you deactivate the Feedburner plugin.

In order to fix this, I’d have to start all over with a new category, and republish to iTunes.

No. Probably not. But I have not unterstood how you implemented this category as a Feedburner feed.
Usually one registers a feed at Feedburner and Feedburner visits your blog with a certain interval an gathers information from your feed (like iTunes or Podtrac). Feedburner produces a new feed with these informations. This Feed has a new (Feedburner) URL. At this point in the process both Feeds work seperately. But if you would like you listeners (and maybe iTunes) to use the Feedburner URL (maybe because you prefer the statistics of Feedburner) then you can redirect the original feed URL to the Feedburner URL. (You may use a WP plugin to do this.) This way all users which have already subscribed to your podcast will be lead to the new Feed URL (If one opens the original the plugin or .htaccess entry will forward the request to the new URL).
But registering a feed at Feedburner and implementing such a redirect are separate things.
