    Hey guys,

I have been using podPress for a couple of months now, and it has been working great. I had recently been using the new-feed-url setting to insert a FeedBurner url instead of the WordPress url for the iTunes podcast. It seemed to be working OK. Then, I went to change the description of the WordPress post with the podPress podcast in it, and when I clicked “Update” to save the changes, everything went haywire.

When I clicked the “Update” button the post, it immediately removed my podcast that I had inserted into the post using the podPress “Add media” button. Then, I tried multiple times to insert it again, and it would not save the changes. So I went to the podPress settings and all of my settings had disappeared, just as if I had deleted the plugin completely and the reinstalled it. Everything was back to the default settings. So I tried to update all of the settings over again, and I keep getting the error at the top of the podPress settings page that says “Error: Unable to save the changes”. I have never seen this error before.

I checked iTunes and FeedBurner and none of the podcasts are able to play.

    Troubleshooting I have done:
    – I have deactivated all plugins except for podPress and tried to save new podPress settings, and it does not work.
    – I have changed the theme, and the podPress settings do not save.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have never seen this error before.

I can say the same. That is why I have no solution ready to use.

Do you use a beta version?

Please, go to the general settings page of podPress. Does the section “System Information” contain any notice of version conflict?

    Try de- and reactivating podPress.

Do you how-to access the data base of your blog? (Maybe through a web interface like phpMyAdmin?)
If you know how to do this and if your allowed then remove in the table wp_options (the prefix of db table name might not be wp_) the row with the key “podPress_version” and the row with the key “podPress_config”.
Do this before you reactivate podPress.

The meta information of the episodes are store in a different db table and will not be altered be these actions.

    Hey Tim,

Thanks for your quick response. It seems that everything starting working again shortly after I posted the problem. The scary part is that I have no idea why it broke or why it started working again. I just tried to change the podPress settings again like I typically had been, and this time it saved. I did have to re-do all my podPress settings again, but no worries. Very strange, though.

    Hi John,

I’m glad that it works again.

    Regards,
    Tim
