Audio is ok, but video is missing! (5 posts)

After doing this a hundred times, I sent a video through FTP to my site and then proceeded to fill in the "new post" info (title, text, and "add media" within podpress). Everything went normally (especially because I don't fiddle with any controls, once this thing has been set up ages ago). When I clicked on "visualize" to make sure everything was ok before publishing the new post, the new page (on two Mac computers) showed me everything right, except that when I started the video, only the audio came alive. The screen remained black. It has never happened before and I couldn't understand why this was happening. My (temporary) solution was to upload the same file to YouTube and then insert the embedding code into the new post and publish it. Please check it out at http://www.claudiolessa.com. Any explanation/solution to this will be GREATLY appreciated. I am a journaist, not a technical guy.

    Hi Claudio,

can you tell which video format you use?
Which web browser did/do you use? Safari? Which version?
Does this effect appear also in other browsers?

podPress comes only with a video player for .ogg video and .flv video file. Other media files are getting embedded in away which requires certain browser plugins. If such plugin is not installed then a situation like you have described may happen.

Could you post a link to a post which contains a video file embedded with podPress?

    Thanks,
    Tim

    Dear Tim,
I just found out, literally minutes ago, that the problem was with the iSkySoft converter that I used. I recently had trouble with my MacPro's main HD and lost all the setups (had to re-install everything). Anyway, this evening I decided to try the old version of iSkySoft I had in my MacBook Pro and, to my surprise, the video came out with the audio, like it has always done!
At the same time I thank you very, very much for your quick answer, I would appreciate if you could help me with the setup of the converter. I generate the video through Final Cut Pro (7.0.3) using Quick Time Conversion, 1920x1080. In the past, when I converted to .FLV 264, the degradation was barely noticeable. Now, that I lost the setup I had, I noticed that the video degradation is quite apparent. Where should I fiddle in iSkySoft in order to get better video?
Once again, thank you very much!

    Claudio,

I'm no Mac user. That is why I have don't know these programs. I'm also no expert when comes to the specification of video file formats and codecs.

    Tim,
No sweat. Thank you very much, anyway. While fiddling with the software, I found that the mp4 option, although producing a little larger file, works ok. Therefore, until I find the right combination of specs, I am abandoning .flv.
    Thanks again!
    All the best,
