Plugin to add auto ribbon-like overlay on images? (4 posts)

I am looking for a plugin or script (or some way for that matter) to automatically add ribbons across featured images, just like a "SOLD" or "GONE" text. It doesn't have to be a ribbon. Here's what I'm trying to do:

I'm using a portfolio template. The home page has grid-style posts; images that when clicked go to the post for more information. These posts aren't regular "posts"; they are sort of like "ad posts". If one of the posts is no longer "required", I want it to remain there, but have a ribbon across with a text like "GONE" or "SOLD". So when visitors come to the home page, they'll immediately see which ones are gone and which ones are still available.

I've looked all over the net, but could not find anything close. And I don't know enough code to write a script myself. I am aware that I can edit images with Photoshop or something, and add a ribbon manually. But that would be too much effort when the number of posts reach 100s; edit image, upload, change featured. Of course, if there are no plugins that automatically edit the featured image, then I've go through the manual editing process for each post.

    Thanks in advance!

Were you able to find a solution for this? I too would like to do this.

    Thanks!

I temporarily suspended my project requiring that plugin. However, I communicated with the author of the below photo album plugin, and he (very, very quickly, I should add) implemented an option to insert a watermark, which can be any image with any amount of transparency (set from within the plugin). So, the watermark can be a ribbon with text, which sort of worked for me.

The developer is working tirelessly on the plugin, pushing updates quite often. Give it a try, if you haven't done so, already...
