   Loaded photospace plugin - works great with a few manual tweaks but the only thing I cannot sus is:
   clicking thumbnails loads the main image fine - how can I set this to mouseover or hover?

   In other words, I want to load the main image by hovering on the thumbs instead of clicking. Possible?

   No, this used to be an option but was buggy in the new versions of jQuery.
